The countdown clock is approaching single digits for Mayo Clinic’s week of social media learning and networking opportunities, which starts Monday, Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. and concludes Friday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. on our Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, Minn.
There is still time to register for each of the events; here is the schedule for the week in an easily digestible overview format so you can make your plans. Note that we have discounts available for members of Mayo Clinic’s Social Media Health Network. See the list of member organizations and how to join.
Social Media Summit (with Ragan Communications)
This starts Monday, Oct. 17 with pre-conference workshops (two morning choices, two afternoon choices) and then a networking reception. The main conference, with four keynotes and three learning tracks, runs from 9 a.m. Tuesday until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. See the complete agenda and register here. Network members see this post for discounts.
Social Media Health Network Member Meeting
This meeting for Network members begins Wednesday at 2 p.m. with our e-Patient Forum, featuring recipients of our Patient/Caregiver scholarships discussing how social media tools can help make health care more patient-centered. The meeting continues with member-led discussions of relevant topics until 11:30 a.m. Thursday. A highlight will be the Member Dinner on Wednesday night, which will feature a concert by Marlow and Frances Cowan of Ankeny, Iowa, whose Sept. 2008 piano performance at Mayo Clinic has been viewed more than 7.7 million times on YouTube.
This event is for employees of Network members, who can register here. (Go here for membership information.)
Social Media Residency
This is a hands-on, intense immersion in social media practice and strategy in a small group environment to enable individual attention. Tutorials provided in advance will help novices prepare for the program, which runs from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
The goal of the course and the Social Media Residency Handbook is to give residents a strategic framework for practically applying social media in their work. This post has more Residency details. Register here.
