Hudson Health Plan is a community-based not-for-profit health care organization that provides three state-sponsored health insurance programs (Medicaid Managed Care, Child Health Plus, and Family Health Plus). Hudson serves over 110,000 members and operates in six counties in New York’s Hudson Valley.
Hudson’s mission is “to promote and provide access to excellent health services for all people.” Through its innovations in care coordination and by supporting over 3,500 local health providers Hudson strives to improve the health of its members and the communities in which they live.
Hudson’s members receive their primary and specialty health care from participating private physicians and community health centers. Inpatient care is provided by hospitals throughout the service area. Dental care, behavioral health, vision care and other health services are offered to all members.
In addition to providing affordable health insurance coverage, Hudson helps members manage their long-term health through chronic-illness case management and well-care programs, and rewards providers for providing quality care. These programs are one reason Hudson consistently ranks high in patient satisfaction surveys and in managed care quality performance measures tracked by the New York State Department of Health.
In April, Hudson launched its new mobile phone-friendly Web site, a first for New York State not-for-profit Medicaid Managed Care plans. We are hoping to add an insurance plan’s point of view to the Mayo Member Network and we also hope to utilize other members’ best practices in terms of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and, very importantly, to help develop a forward-thinking social media policy for our employees.
