Join Social Media Grand Rounds on May 14

The Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media (MCCSM) will host and webcast its second Social Media Grand Rounds on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 2-3 p.m. CDT.

The program is based on the Grand Rounds concept that is common in academic medical centers, in which medical or surgical staff members gather to hear case studies and guest lectures as part of their continuing education.

Our first Social Media Grand Rounds session featured representatives from Space150 discussing future trends in mobile and social technology. View the archived webcast.

First Social Media Grand Rounds

This time we’ll be highlighting three of Mayo Clinic’s recent social media initiatives, with presentations from our MCCSM staff:

  • Elizabeth Harty and Makala Johnson will review the ways Mayo Clinic is using social media in conjunction with its Sesquicentennial celebration and its mobile exhibit.
  • Tony Hart will discuss the use of social media in Mayo Clinic’s continuing medical education programs, and particularly the new @MayoMedEd Twitter account, and
  • Lee Aase will provide an update on MCCSM’s Social Media Residency program as it has moved to a one-day course, and recent cohorts in Salt Lake City and Rochester.

There is no charge for Social Media Grand Rounds, and anyone may participate, whether in person or via webcast.

The program will be held in Geffen Auditorium on the Rochester, Minn. campus, with employees in Arizona and Florida able to participate by videoconference. The Scottsdale conference room is CP-81C, while the Jacksonville location is Davis 2-002N.

Those who wish to join remotely should go here to register, and we will send a reminder email with the link to participate in the webcast as soon as it is available. Join the discussion and ask questions via the #MCCSM hashtag on Twitter.

Update (5/13/14): Here is the post that includes the live streaming link.
