Very nice, Lee. As I often tell doctors, visibility creates opportunity. When you create, people see how you think. When people see you think, they want to talk to you. And when you talk and connect, things happen.

What I love about this group is that they represent fresh voices of the patient community. We sometimes forget that e-patients and surrogates are representative of so many conditions.

I, too, look forward to meeting all of you in October.

I'd have to defer to David and the attys on this, but this patient initiation becomes important as it perhaps implies patient consent if I recall correctly.

I might add, Meredith, that being a public figure shouldn't necessarily be relevant. Twitter is a public platform and it has to be assumed by patients that anyone, doctors included, can see their tweets.

Then the question moves to whether a provider should be intentionally looking for information or conversations about patients.

Lee, posted on this early this AM and just found this. Great commentary. I'll link over.

Absolutely. While I might suggest that the programming is more geared toward institutions/hospitals, there's lots of derivative information that can be gleaned. Perhaps the best opportunities are in the networking. I would personally extend an offer to sit with you and help you work through issues related to your professional public presence. And I could introduce you to others who can do the same.

I hope to see you there.

Amazing residency so far...

RobKhoo (@robkhoo) responded:

Thanks for your advice during the residency. Could let me know if you received any negative pushback when you began to blog and use Twitter at Baylor. What can I anticipate as I just heard from my Vice President of Quality that he got wind of my blog - the one I created 2 days ago. He wants to meet me right away. What's up with that? @colondoc
