Since we launched the Social Media Health Network in late 2010, the primary unit of membership has been the organization. When a hospital, medical practice, government agency, association or company joins the network, that gives everyone who shares the same email domain (e.g. mayo.edu, lvhn.org, perkinelmer.com) full member benefits, including
Recognizing the challenges of the lonely social media advocate within an organization, however, we've recently added an option for Individual membership. We want those who are passionate about applying social media in health care to be able to join, and not to be hindered by the fact that their organization as a whole may not yet be ready.
As detailed in the chart below and in our member benefits flyer, organization dues range from $1,000 to $8,000 per year depending on annual revenue, and include 500 to 4,000 points. Individual member dues are $495 per year and include 250 points.
Organization memberships still provide the most value, and we hope many who start with individual memberships will later be able to have their organizations join. For example, for the price of two individuals from a Tier I company joining, everyone in the organization can have full membership. Organization memberships also include some benefits not available to individual members, such as enhanced listings in the Health Care Social Media List and deep discounts on services.
But an Individual Membership is a great way to get started in the Network without waiting for your organization. Go here to sign up with your credit card, or if you currently have a Guest account in the Network you may upgrade here in the Change Membership tab.
Individual memberships are for those who work in health care or related industries; we also have Associate memberships available for Patient Advocates, Students and Faculty as described here.
