We’re pleased to announce today that Meredith Gould, Ph.D. has accepted a new role as our Community Manager for the Social Media Health Network.
Many of you know Randy Schwarz, who as a member of our Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media (MCCSM) staff had the community management role for the Social Media Health Network (SMHN), among other duties. Randy recently has taken another position, in a different department, on our Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, Florida. With his departure, we've needed to rethink how we can best serve our Network members.
She won’t necessarily appreciate the sports metaphor, but with Meredith Gould we've hit a home run.
Meredith has been involved in helping to shape MCCSM since well before we launched it in 2010, and when we named our External Advisory Board, she was one of the charter members. She has generously contributed her time and energy as a volunteer adviser, and also took on a major role in gathering and editing essays in our book, Bringing the Social Media Revolution to Health Care. She was one of our first three SMHN Platinum Fellows. And she’s a great humanitarian.
In her new role as Community Manager, Meredith will focus on enhancing the value of Network membership, and ensuring that the products, services and resources provided through the Network are meaningful to our members.
Early on, you can expect to see a streamlined SMHN Web site, making member resources more easily accessible. Meredith also will be reaching out to members, looking for ideas for improvement and feedback on what proposed Network products and services would be most helpful. And with her strong background in education, she will help us continue to strengthen our training through Social Media Residency and the Social Media Fellows program.

My favorite go-to source for great community management ideas is Feverbee.com. Lots of research-based information about managing and growing online communities.
